So, the time has come for the moment of truth. Wait, every second, minute, and day is the moment of truth. And, that is the privilege of being alive. Every occasion is a wonderful juncture.
So, what does branding have to do with this? In one, or maybe too many, of my previous articles, I’ve written about self-discovery. And, I mentioned that I had finally discovered my purpose, which was storytelling—what a wonderful revelation indeed. But truth be told, we all have great stories to share. The only problem is that we have forgotten the craft of narrative. I challenge you to stop being embarrassed of your lack of accomplishments and instead, weave a dynamic tale of your experiences without over-exaggeration of course. Yes, this is extremely difficult, but it’s therapeutic and refreshing. Make the telling of your life a breathing prose. Make us want to turn the page to the next chapter. Allow us to stay awake late at night absorbing your words.
As a storyteller, I’ve currently chosen my four delivery methods as such: #1, Medium.com is my outlet for written words. #2, indiePROmovies.com, and CineClubEcuador.com are my movie/video ports. #3, PérezCadena.com is my hybrid, business/art platform. And #4, My social media accounts such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and instagram are my promotional vehicles. Yes, I’m going to be extremely busy, amen.
So, why do I feel the need to express myself and does it really matter?
Excellent question and here is the simple answer. Yes, it matters because everything has relevance. When you create out of happiness you spread the wealth. When you function out of ego and greed you produce debris and anguish—too much of that lately. Remember, it’s your decision what you contribute, but I hope it’s alluring and compassionate.
I recently came to an understanding of what it means to be alive. It is simply to live—it isn’t any more complicated than that. We tend to complicate our lives with imaginary scenarios and delusional desires. Here is a simple directive to follow. If your dreams force you to live a living-nightmare, quit. Your aspirations and goals should not tarnish your present state. If there is no joy in the small steps you are taking toward your vision—I frankly state, “it is an erroneous direction—stop.”
Having an inner peace allows you to take delight in all the things that surround us. It grants you the ability to truly be grateful for what life has given you. This is the desired goal. Translated that means: the work, the process, the voyage is what is important, not the destination. I know you’ve heard this before, but it’s important to read it outloud, AGAIN.
I’m pleased to say that I know whatever I create from now on is going to be great, at least to me. I am content with being a storyteller. Now, my only desire is to keep improving my craft. The medium in which I deliver it is not as important. What is critical is that I enjoy the practice.
My brand is storyteller. What is yours?
