COLORS Feng Shui
When coloring your room, be aware that the longer you stay in a certain color the more it can affect your field of energy. Even though there is a color assigned to a specific sector/element some colors may be used more than others.
Red – Some colors such as red has too much yang energy. Even though this is a luck color, the longer you are exposed to this color the more irritable and angry you may become. How much flame do you need to light the way? Not very much. When designing with the color red use subtle accents such as pillows, fans or small figurines. You might want to try red sheets to spark up passion in your bedroom, but be forewarned, passion is a double edge sword. Just remember, like a flame, passion doesn’t last forever. The more you desire, the more you resent when needs aren’t met. So if you decide to resolve conflicts pick a room that doesn’t have too much red.
Red, however, may be use to paint the outside of one’s doors especially in the southwest for commitment. Red doors are also good if you live in areas where yin energies are high such as by graveyards or jail cells. If you must add a yang color to increase love, pink or rose colors are a safer alternative. The color pink/rose is a lighter shade of red, which promotes attraction and affection rather than primal sexual passion. (Best with south and southwest sectors)
Orange – Orange is another lively yang color. If you need to add energy to your life, try a bit of orange. Orange however, is another one that can increase sexual energies if red is added or mental energies if more yellow is added. (Best with southwest and northeast)
Yellow – Another color one should use with caution is the color yellow. Yellow is a mental color. Exposure to this color will bring about logical thought but long term exposure to this color may create mental distress, frustrations and over cautiousness. As you may have experienced, anytime you spend too much time in your head you’ll start to give reasons to why things can’t be done. Because of this, yellow is recommended for rooms you don’t spend that much time in. Small accents such as paintings and lighting will do just fine for students. (Best with northeast, center sectors)
Green – No other color can heal you faster than the color green. Green carries with it a life force that is attached with your heart. Green represents growth and good health. Being a color that is in the center of the color spectrum, green can be divided into a yang green or a yin green.
Someone who is lethargic can benefit from a room that has a mixture of green and yellow (yang green), and someone who is overactive can benefit from green and blue or purple (yin green). Green acts as a balancer but long-term exposure might cause stagnation, or a sudden drop of energy. Have you heard of the term sickly green? Too much green might have a reverse effect.
Because the heart vibrates to green it can be both positive and negative. Lively green brings us love energy that helps us grow. Darkest green brings us love energy that can damage others or us around us. The term green with envy is represented by dark green.
In Feng Shui having too many plants in your bedroom can detriment your relationship. The reason the Feng Shui gives it is because plants bring too much yang energy, which increases the male libido hence, he strays. In western new age views perhaps an unhealthy overload of green (love) can create jealousy, which can also damage a relationship. Again this color should be used in rooms you don’t spend that much time in. Perhaps a meditation or healing room to run to after a hard days work. (Best with east and southeast sectors).
Blue – The next safest color other than white to spend a lot of time in is blue. Lets face it we live on a blue planet. Blue is the ultimate symbol of a productive cycle. It is the color of our skies and oceans. Our throat chakra, which corresponds to our professional and service oriented attitude, vibrates with the color blue. Royalty and professionals gravitate to the color blue. The north, our career sector, guess what, vibrates to the color blue…
A mixture of blue and purple activates our third eye chakra, which can activate our creative thought, and the ability to execute on those thoughts. So if you’re spinning your wheels consider a coat of blue and purple paint for your room. (Best with north, east and southeast sector)
Purple is a color great for spiritual development. When you are passionate about the knowledge you’ve attained your energy field naturally exudes the color purple. With that known, adding purple to a room can activate deep wisdom. Feng Shui masters favor the color purple. Purple is a prosperity color since one is able to prosper on their wisdom. The difference between luck and prosperity is that luck is like an unexpected basket of fruit while prosperity is the seed one plants to reap the efforts over time.
This a great color for planners and public speakers. Exposure to this color makes others see you as driven and passionate. Too much however can peg you as a know it all. (Best with north, east and southeast)
